Eagle Scouts

Eagle Projects, Past and Present

Slide1There are young men who break away from the pack, and these are Eagle Scouts. Within this group there are Super Eagles, who soar above the rest. Meet Dreke Cuthbert, one of the Suger Eagles. Derek went above and beyond with this project, a moveable chicken coop. Not satisfied with creating yet another chicken tractor Derek built a replica of the Tatum House as a Coop Deville. Not only did he create this amazing and beautiful tractor, he also wrote and illustrated a how to booklet for others who may want to create something as useful and ingenious as this.

Micheal Baird

Eagle Scout, Michael Baird, raised the roof with his project on the Crowley entrance walkway. Eagle Scout Suliman Ayad originally built the wrap around porch at the Welcome Center in 2009, but the roof was in need of raising. Many bumped heads are grateful for the engineering feat accomplished by  Michael. He also added much needed rain gutters and rain barrels to harvest rain for the kitchen garden. Great job!!

Eagle Scout Kevin D. Thielen Troop # 181 Manatee

Project: Injured Bird of Prey Rehabilitation Cage

Unit Leader: Allen Bailey

BOP cage

Kevin Thielen, with assistance from his dad, Mark Thielen, Crowley Scout Director Larry Roberts, brother Michael Thielen, Allen Bailey, Benjamin Ponte, and a host of other support built this marvelous BOP cage that will house education birds that are unable to be released. This was one of the most well planned and executed projects we have seen. Congratulations to all who helped with this project that will enhance guest experience and education for many years to come. Thank you Kevin!
