Heritage Festival

Saturday Feb. 9, 2013

Shows will be repeated throughout the day, the Hole In the Head Gang, Civil War Skirmished, Whip Cracking along with snake oil salesman, weavers, blacksmithing, kids games and music. Come anytime, stay all day…

Come out to the country for the Southwest Florida Heritage Festival. The Southwest Florida Heritage Festival is an exciting day filled with family activities such as pony rides, hay rides, and fabulous food by Big Red’s Flamin Chicken and Ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers hot off the grill by Boy Scout Troop #89, world’s best Kettle Korn by Big Red’s Kettle Korn, along with beverages, including beer, and wine. Enjoy live demonstrations of pioneer and cowboy skills, a civil war re-enactment and camp life, blacksmithing, a wild west shootout and whipcracking. Pioneer re-enactors demonstrate cracker open fire cooking, soap making, butter churning, and antique steam engines. Interact with the demonstrators to get first hand knowledge about the skills and tools the pioneers needed to survive in early Florida. Travel along with our guides who introduce you to southwest Florida pioneer history and the wonders of our natural spaces. Nature and History Tours are scheduled several times during the day.

This year we have an exciting addition!! During the heritage festival there will be a Church Social held at the Old Miakka Methodist Church with good old-fashioned preaching, a wedding ceremony under the arbor, guided tours of the cemetery, gospel music, and much, much more…

Parking: $2.00 donation with complementary raffle ticket.
