A beautiful rural sunrise over Myakka farmland that is under construction. Once these areas are developed, there is no going back. The landscape and the environment and animals’ health are forever negatively changed.
We wish more landowners would consider conservation easements. Conserved natural lands benefit all of us in ways people often don’t think about. If natural lands are filled and not holding storm water, where does it go? Into our houses and roads…
If natural lands don’t house wildlife, where do they go? Same answer. If areas are developed into neighborhoods with asphalt, lawn treatments, insecticides etc., where do those chemicals go? Into our water. Is this really what we want? Is this really what we will settle for?
